God is Truth

Papa used to uphold and has given much importance to telling truth. According to Him, God is Truth.  In this regard, Swami Satchidanandaji once said, even for fun sake one should not tell lies, sometimes we used to close our hands with our fingers and ask child to find out what is inside the hand? If child guessed something, we should not tell a lie about what is inside the hand!

Papas devotee Devasenapathi used to take lot of books from Ashram and selling them to many friends and devotees in and around Chennai. He used to carry books in bicycle. He had so much passion in spreading Papa's life and teaching. Once, Pujya Papa asked him Senapathi, how is that you are selling a lot of spiritual books to many people. He replied, Papa knows the secret.  Then, Pujya Papa asked, Senapathi, why don't you take commision for book sales from Ashram.  D said, Papa, I am already taking commission. Papa looking at him asked how?  D told Papa showing his two packets of his shirt, I am taking in one pocket full of PAPA'S GRACE  and in another packet full of MATHAJI'S GRACE as commission.  At this, Papa said, 'Look! Senapathi is looting Ramdas!'

A devotee from Thiruvallur Devasenapathi visited Ashram with his family. Papa asked him 'Do you have faith now?' D said 'No Papa', Papa exclaimed, what! D said, 'I have blind faith'. Papa was immensely pleased and patted him saying, this should be the attitude of a devotee.

A lady devotee mother visited Ashram with her two year old child and stayed in L building. In those days, there was no canteen and the night dinner served was bread and milk.  One day, the mother devotee did not take her share of milk, meant for the child thinking it would be useful to visiting devotees. The next day when she went for Mataji darshan queue, Mataji asked her to sit by her side. After everyone has gone, she turned to her and said, why you have not taken the share of your milk? Mother devotee, 'since there were lot of sweet prasad I thought milk would be available to other devotees and I have not taken it.' Mataji said, 'yesterday night I couldn't take my dinner.  When I prayed to Papa for the reason, I saw your child was denied his food, the milk.  As a mother, don't you know a child requires milk. Since you denied him the milk I couldn't take my food. Don't deny the child what he needs.' Such is the identification of Mataji with all beings!

In another instance, the same devotee mother kept her child on the bare floor of verandah, adjacent to Mataji room. Devotee mother instructed the child not to move and be there. When she went for Mataji darshan, Mataji asked her 'what have you done to the child?'  Devotee mother said, 'I have not done anything wrong. I kept the child in verandah.'  Mataji asked her to touch her left side of the face, it was very hot.  Mataji said, 'you have kept the child in hot sun. Go and see.' Devotee mother rushed to the verandah to see her child.  The child didn't move obeying the words of her mother though the sun was burning his cheeks! Devotee mother felt sorry and took the child to her arms.  Such is the identification of Mataji with all beings!

A french man visited Ashram and met Pujya Mataji.  He said, 'I am asked to chant Ram Nam. Would it be effective? Would it helpful in taking me to goal?' Mataji replied, 'When you are sick, you are going to a Doctor and take the prescribed medicine without a question. In the same way, take Ram Nam with absolute faith. It will take you to the highest goal.'
